Rising dramatically above the forested Vindhya landscape, Bandhavgarh Fort is believed to be around 2,000 years old and is steeped in history, legend and ancient architecture. Local tradition attributes the fort to Lord Rama, who is said to have gifted it to his brother Lakshmana, giving rise to the name Bandhavgarh, or “Brother’s Fort.” Once a royal stronghold of the Baghela rulers, the fort and its surrounding forests eventually became part of a protected wilderness. Today, the ancient ruins stand amidst a thriving tiger habitat, where Bengal tigers roam the forests, grasslands and rocky terrain below the fort. The extraordinary juxtaposition of an ancient fort and wild tigers gives Bandhavgarh a distinctive character, offering visitors a rare glimpse of history and wildlife unfolding in the same landscape.

Arrive at Jabalpur and drive towards the wilderness of Bandhavgarh National Park. The journey takes you from the city into the tranquil landscapes of Central India, gradually giving way to forests and rural countryside. On arrival, check in to your wildlife lodge and settle into your surroundings. Enjoy a leisurely cup of tea as you unwind after the journey, followed by dinner and a restful overnight stay, ready for the first safari adventure the following morning.
Begin the morning with an early cup of tea and a packed breakfast before heading into the wilderness for your first safari of the day. Explore the forests, grasslands and rocky landscapes of Bandhavgarh National Park, renowned for its exceptional tiger habitat. Accompanied by an expert naturalist and driver, keep watch for tigers, leopards, sloth bears, chital, sambar, gaur and the park’s rich birdlife.
Return to the lodge after the morning safari for some time to relax. Later, set out for your second safari, exploring another part of the reserve and following the latest wildlife movement and sighting information. Return to the lodge after the drive for tea, dinner and a restful night.
Rise early with tea and a packed breakfast before setting out for your third safari. As the forest awakens, explore Bandhavgarh’s varied terrain, where dense woodland, open meadows and rocky outcrops create an ideal setting for wildlife encounters. Your expert naturalist and driver will select the route according to recent sightings and forest conditions.
After returning to the lodge for some time to rest and unwind, enjoy lunch before heading out for your fourth safari in the afternoon. Continue your exploration of Bandhavgarh, watching for the distinctive signs and alarm calls that can lead you towards its magnificent predators. Return to the lodge for tea, dinner and your final night in the wilderness.
